Stretch mark camouflage 101: removing stretch marks forever!
Stretch mark camouflage is the only solution for the discoloration of stretch marks and scars. There are many creams claiming to reduce the appearance of stretch marks and scars but do they really work? Well stretch marks are a form of scarring, just like scars. When they form, the elastin and collagen fibers break. This results in loss of cells that produce skin pigment. Yes, there are options like micro-needling, lasers, some creams, but they don’t really help with the discoloration of the stretch marks and scars.
Why would you want to cover up stretch marks?
Stretch mark camouflage was invented to bring new confidence, so you can feel gorgeous in your skin! It was invented so you have an option.

So, what is stretch mark camouflage?
It is a pmu technique where we match the pigments to your skin tone and with the usage of a digital device we implement pigments into the skin. We cover the discoloration of stretch marks and scars with a soft pigmentation so they are less visible.

Can I suntan after the procedure?

Yes! You can suntan once the area is fully healed (at least 40 days). It is STRONGLY recommended to avoid sun exposure during the healing process, discolouration might occur.
For best long-term results, we recommend to apply a high SPF on the treated area prior to sun exposure.
NOTE: Once healed —> Camouflaged scars DO NOT change color or fade away when you tan. It is safe to go to the beach/pool.
The length of the treatment depends on the size of the area to be treated.
On average, a small area takes around 1 hour and a big area up to 3 hours.

How quickly will I see the results after the procedure?

30-90 days after your initial treatment. You should have a reliable visible indication of your final result.
After the procedure, you may experience some mild irritation, redness and swelling, which can last up to one week.
During the third week, the treated area will slightly get darker. DO NOT PANIC! It is healing.
Once this has subsided, you will begin to see the result of your treatment.
We advise you to book a follow up consultation after 45 days of your treatment as we may need to do some minor touch up.

How long does the results last?

Medical Camouflage provides permanent results, if providing the right after care protocol. After several years (5-7 years) A color touch-up might be needed.

You may be a candidate if you meet the criteria below. Your scar should be:
-
Healed and no longer pink or changing color: Your scar should be at least 9 to 12 months old with stable color. If it is red or pink or still changing color, the tissue may still be healing. A reputable, experienced medical tattooist will not work prematurely on scar tissue because it may cause further damage to the skin.
(Note: If you were under a physician’s care for the condition, ask him/her if you may undergo skin color tattooing before contacting Boujie Brows)

-
Smooth and relatively flat: Camouflage tattooing cannot disguise or correct extreme changes in skin texture. If your scar or skin area is bumpy or raised, the process may not be effective.
(Note: If you have any skin surface irregularity, please consult with a Dermatologist or Plastic Surgeon first to see if any type of medical treatment can first improve the skin texture.)

-
Without dark edges: Dark edges or borders around a scar indicate Post Inflammatory Hyper-pigmentation (PIHP) from the initial trauma or surgery. It is possible that the camouflage tattooing process may increase hyper-pigmentation and create a wider, darker border.
(Note: The risk of this happening is usually greater with darker skin tones.)

-
NOT one of the following: Port Wine birthmarks; spider veins; freckles; age spots; under-eye circles; hyper-pigmentation; or unstable Vitiligo (not in remission). These can be improved with non-tattoo medical treatments such as lasers, sclerotherapy, or chemical peels. Please consult with a physician regarding the best course of treatment for these conditions.
One of the most important steps to Brazilian Stretch Mark Camouflage is the aftercare. With proper aftercare, you can expect the best results and a quick healing time. If you do not follow the proper aftercare guidelines, you can cause a slower healing process, hyperpigmentation and improper healing.
